Broussais Paris

Broussais Paris
The project is the result of a partnership with an international and multidisciplinary team including, in addition to MAB arquitectura, Puzzler and David Lampros (Paris) and Claus en Kaan (Rotterdam). It is a large-scale initiative organised by the RIVP (Régie Immobilière De La Ville De Paris) for the urban regeneration of the old ‘Broussais’ hospital site in the XIVth arrondissement, a district undergoing rapid change.
Data

The combination of cultural and social functions, together with the centrality of the public space, was the main focus of this competition project. Two residential blocks, a student residence, a kindergarten and a neighbourhood civic centre define the functional mix of this area, that will be organised along the sides of a new green promenade.

The themes of fluidity, flexibility, transparency and permeability structure the masterplan. The volumes of the buildings are characterised by cantilevered balconies, sculpted loggias, double and triple heights and different material languages. The facade of the Chaufferie building, a disused warehouse converted into a civic centre by the project, has been redesigned with a wood cladding.
